Lynet – smartly networking for leverage and impact

The Finnish Partnership for Research on Natural Resources and the Environment (Lynet) is a network of the seven largest research institutes in the sectors of natural resources and the environment in Finland, established by a decree in 2009. The member organisations are

In addition to research activities, many of the member organizations are also public authorities within their fields of expertise. The total number of employees in Lynet organisations is over 5000.

Lynet promotes co-operation between research institutes, universities and companies across administrative sectors nationally and internationally. The co-operation covers various research activities, monitoring, data management as well as research infrastructures and research support services. By renewing traditional ways of cooperation, Lynet aims for greater impressiveness, better services and increased efficiency. Lynet works for open data policy.

Research co-operation is boosted in interdisciplinary workshops bringing together researchers from Lynet organisations and stakeholders. Other actions include development projects and various peer groups. The types of collaborative groups that have been established include
